The Vicki and Marvin Hoodis  URJ Campership Scholarship

Temple Sinai is deeply committed to helping families create powerful summer experiences at URJ Jewish summer camps.

This fund is named in memory of Vicki and Marvin Hoodis who were committed to sending their two sons, Robert and David, to URJ’s Greene Family Camp every summer. Financially, they did the best they could and relied on scholarships like this one to help make up the shortfall. With this fund, Temple Sinai will be able to make the investment in our youth by supporting their ability to attend URJ Reform Jewish summer camps. We hope that you will consider giving to this fund.

For the campers, we hope you will see yourself as an ambassador for the experience when you return to Temple Sinai. As you know, stories create powerful connections within the congregation. Before or after your program, you will be asked to speak about your experience at a Shabbat evening service, a school or other Temple event.

Guidelines and Eligibility:

• This is a need-based scholarship.

• The amount will vary based on the available funds.

• The camper must be enrolled in a Temple Sinai Youth or Education program, or a local Jewish day school.

• The camper’s family’s account with the Temple must be current (or arrangements made).

• The camper’s family is asked to balance their requests for funds from all available sources.

• Payment is made directly to the URJ Summer Camp Program.
