GRADE 7 TRIP: MUSEUM OF JEWISH HERITAGE PERMISSION FORM

Dear Grade 7 Parents,

I am pleased to inform you about the upcoming Grade 7 trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in N.Y.C. on Sunday, November 17^th, from 10:15am-2:30pm. Our students will be studying the Holocaust and this trip will serve to enrich and to further concretize that period of Jewish history.

The museum is providing a tour for us, Meeting Hate with Humanity: Life During the Holocaust. In addition to exploring the impact of the Holocaust, we will explore issues of cultural identity; responsibility to community and decision-making; as well as ways in which individuals and nations responded, or failed to respond, to the crisis. The program concludes with a conversation about social justice. This tour is designed to be age appropriate for grade 7 students.

On November 17, please bring your child to the Temple at 10:15 AM sharp. The bus will leave at 9:45. If there is time on the way home, we will stop for a fro-yo treat at 16 Handles on Summit Ave at approximately 2:00. We will return to Temple Sinai at approximately 2:30pm. Please arrange to pick up your child at that time.

We expect our growing teens to be hungry at the conclusion of the program! Please send your child with a bag lunch for the return trip home. Your child’s lunch must not include any nuts, as we may have students on the bus who are allergic to nuts. Please send your child with $6 or $7 cash for the frozen yogurt dessert. We request that students leave their MP3 players and video games at home, as these items will need to be left unsupervised on the bus. Thank you.

I would like to clearly communicate that this field trip is not thought of as an optional enrichment program, but is a CORE part of the grade 7 Holocaust curriculum and will impact your child’s understanding of our program. We expect all of our students to participate. The teacher and I appreciate your support.

The fee for this trip is $25.00, payable to Temple Sinai.

My child, listed above, has permission to travel to the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place in New York City with Temple Sinai Religious School on Sunday, November 17, 2019. I will bring my child to the Temple at 9:30am and will pick up my child at 2:15pm. I will provide my child with a bag lunch and $6-$7 for a yogurt treat.
